A Record of Responsibility
Our current administration is fiscally responsible — the district has paid down prior debt bonds faster than projected, saving the community money on interest.
But our buildings have real repair needs, our district is growing, and a building bond is in our future. The community has voted down two recent attempts.
We Need the Right Bond
We need to find the right bond — one that:
- Solves real teacher and student needs
- Doesn’t go big on the wish list
- Gives the community something to rally behind
What I’ll Advocate For
- Transparency in bond planning — clear, itemized lists of what will be funded and why, with community input before the proposal is finalized
- Needs vs. wants — every dollar should have a clear educational rationale
- Fiscal discipline — learning from the two failed bond attempts and listening to why the community said no
- Long-term planning — addressing our growing enrollment with facilities that will serve students for decades, not just the next few years
- Community engagement — the bond should be built with the community, not presented to the community
The Bottom Line
A school bond isn’t just a financial instrument — it’s a statement of what a community values. If we get the priorities right and communicate honestly, we can build something our community is proud to invest in.
